Bryan Carter and Kelland Thomas Receive Confluencenter Faculty Collaboration Grant

May 27th, 2015

The College’s own Bryan Carter and Professor Kelland Thomas of the Fred Fox School of Music have recently been awarded one of five Faculty Collaboration Grants from the Confluencenter. These funds will help further the Harlem project which immerses students in a virtual depiction of Harlem at the height of the Jazz age, allowing students to experience the social, cultural, political and economic aspects of the city’s renaissance first hand.

"Virtual Harlem has been in development for over 15 years and finally the technology has matured to the point where we can do some amazing things with virtual environments," Carter said. "It is through the generous support of the Confluencenter that the evolution of Virtual Harlem will take shape and become what we dreamed when it was first launched in 1998."
