The College of Humanities Research and Instructional Computing staff provide computing support and technology services to all of the faculty, staff, GATs, and administrators that work in the College of Humanities. Our goal is to provide and maintain a safe and secure computing environment for all of the College, regardless of whether the user prefers to use a Mac and PC.

Our technical services include:

  • Desktop system and software installation, configuration, and procurement services.
  • Providing users access to fast, reliable network servers for file storage, backups, network printing, and authentication.
  • Professional software and hardware support in-person or via telephone, email, or remote assistance.
  • Upholding the security policies and procedures set forth by the University.
Our instructional support services include:
  • Consulting and technical assistance for instructional projects and curriculum development.
  • Support for Research projects that benefit from the use of technology.
  • Provide assistance for individual websites and multimedia projects.
  • Instructional development labs that instructors may use to work on their projects and instructional tasks.
  • Provide instructors with access to the Colleges computing classrooms, including orientations to the equipment and facilities for classroom instruction.

Support for University-owned laptops and home-based computers:

  • If you are a faculty or staff member who uses a University computer or laptop off-campus, we will do our best to assist you with technical support via phone or remote connection. If this is not possible or convenient, you may be asked to drop it off for service. Please make an appointment with us before delivering a system for repair.
  • Any service requests for off-campus systems should be accompanied with appropriate documentation (such as A-tag numbers, receipts for software purchases, etc.).

We are unable to do some things:

  • We do not pay for computers or printers for departments or individuals since departments are responsible for purchasing equipment for their faculty and staff members. We will lend assistance or make recommendations for departments upon request.
  • We do not decide who gets what or where it is to be placed; this is left up to the individuals and their departments. We abide by a user's wishes unless it poses a safety or functionality concern.
  • Please contact the 24/7 IT Support Center for assistance with your personally-owned computing equipment.
