Preparation of Dossiers

Each April the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs publishes annual guidelines and checklists in preparing promotion and tenure dossiers. It is the responsibility of departments and candidates to ensure that the dossier is prepared in full compliance with the guidelines.

The Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs holds a workshop each spring designed to provide information to promotion and tenure candidates. The workshop explains the university's review process and offers guidance on presenting the promotion and tenure dossier.

All promotion and promotion and tenure candidates, heads or directors and appointed promotion and tenure committee chairpersons are encouraged to attend. A candidate for third-year review will also find this workshop helpful as he or she becomes acquainted with the dossier preparation requirements at The University of Arizona.

At the end of a current promotion and tenure cycle, the University Advisory Committee on Promotion and Tenure reports to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs its recommendations for improvement of the university's promotion and tenure process. These recommendations also offer suggestions on how candidates can prepare a successful dossier.
