For Tenure-eligible and Continuing-eligible faculty, the annual performance review contains an assessment component addressing progress toward promotion and tenure/continuing status.
Within the college, all third-year reviews must be completed at the local level no later than December 18. By that date all heads and directors must forward the departmentally reviewed dossiers to the associate dean.
All third-year reviews, as well as promotion and tenure/continuing status dossiers, are to be prepared in accordance with the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs’ guidelines concerning dossier preparation.
At the end of each spring semester, the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs publishes guidelines and checklists to use in preparing promotion and tenure/continuing status dossiers. It is the responsibility of departments and candidates to ensure that the dossier is prepared according to the guidelines.
The Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs also holds workshops each spring designed to provide information about the promotion and tenure/continuing status process. The workshops explain the university’s review process and offers guidance on presenting the promotion and tenure/continuing status dossier.
All candidates for promotion and/or tenure/continuing status, chairs of promotion and tenure/continuing status committees, heads & directors are encouraged to attend the workshops.
