UA Distinguished Professor Albrecht Classen Honored With German Tradition

August 17th, 2016

For his 60th birthday, Albrecht Classen, University Distinguished Professor in the Department of German Studies, received a festschrift, which is a German word for a commemorative collection of articles edited by a colleague in honor of a scholar. The tradition of the festschrift started in Germany, and the honor is usually given for the 65th or 70th birthday. Classen received volume 28 of the journal Mediaevistik. The publication consists of 21 articles written by Classen's colleagues and friends from the U.S., Germany, United Kingdom, Spain, Austria and Australia. The journal is dedicated to international, interdisciplinary research on the Middle Ages, which is Classen's area of research.
