FALL AWARDS

OUTSTANDING SENIOR AWARD

Every Fall and Spring semester, the College of Humanities sponsors an award that recognizes one outstanding senior graduating from the College. The award will be presented to the winner at the College of Humanities Winter Convocation Ceremony held on Friday, December 14, 2018 and the winner will be expected to be the guest student speaker at the ceremony. In addition, the winner will receive a personalized certificate.

AWARD ELIGIBILITY

The student should:

  • be graduating from the U of A in Fall 2018
  • be a College of Humanities major
  • have a minimum GPA of 3.2

NOMINATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Outstanding Senior Award Nominators should plan on submitting the materials listed below:

  1. Nominator’s letter of recommendation
  2. Student Resume - The resume should include the following information:
  • Academic Achievements: List any freshman, sophomore, junior, and/or senior academic achievements, honors, awards and scholarships. Indicate achievements from any college/university other than the University of Arizona.
  • Service to the UA: list all officer/leadership positions for memberships. 
  • Other campus organizations and/or activities.
  • Service to the Community: List all community activities, honors, and organizations from freshman through current year.
  • Additional pertinent information (e.g., employment, graduate/professional school acceptances, etc.).

Deadline: The online application, including all uploaded materials, must be submitted by the nominator no later than 5:00pm on November 15, 2018.

SPRING AWARDS

College of Humanities Distinguished Teaching Award

The Distinguished Teaching Award recognizes teaching excellence at all levels but the College places particular emphasis on teaching at the undergraduate level.
Eligibility: College of Humanities faculty members


College of Humanities Distinguished Undergraduate Advising Mentoring Award

The Distinguished Undergraduate Advising/Mentoring Award recognizes a department or program faculty advisor for extensive and exceptional involvement in advising and mentoring students.
Eligibility: College of Humanities faculty members


COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES OUTSTANDING GAT AWARD

The Outstanding Graduate Assistant in Teaching (GAT) Award recognizes a graduate student who has excelled in teaching.
Eligibility: To be eligible, nominees must

  • have had major responsibility for teaching a course
  • have completed at least two full terms of teaching
  • be in good academic standing
