The Medieval Carmina Burana: Lecture by Dr. Albrecht Classen

Wednesday, March 9, 2016 - 5:00pm
Dorothy Rubel Room, UA Poetry Center 1508 E. Helen Street Tucson, AZ 85721

The medieval Carmina Burana, now in their modern composition by Carl Orff, appeals to audiences all over the world. In their medieval notational structure, they sounded very different, but the philosophical messages contained in the songs reverberate throughout times. Orff had the genius to cast those into modern music, but the insights, reflections, ideas, feelings, and concerns formulated in the song texts are, despite often being somewhat problematic, of a timeless nature.

Admission is free! Seats are limited. Please RSVP to Celena Robles at (520) 620-9162 to reserve your place!

This event is presented by the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, www.tucsonsymphony.org, in partnership with the UA College of Humanities
