China has the largest video game industry in the world, but this size has spawned numerous criticisms, from over-commercialization and game homogenization, to the encouragement of social pressures that lead to game addiction. Filmmaker Tiexin Liang recently captured this growing Chinese subculture, documenting the unique set of obstacles—and opportunities—that Chinese indie game developers face every day.
