Humanities Fearless Scholars

Your future should be Fearless

The College of Humanities is ready to invest in you.

Students who choose to major in the College of Humanities at the University of Arizona gain the skills that are most in demand on the global job market. But life after graduation can be unpredictable. Beginning in 2024, the College of Humanities will select up to 50 students to join the first Humanities Fearless Scholars cohort. If you are selected as a Humanities Fearless Scholar, you will be awarded funds that can ultimately build up to $5,000 at the end of your degree. Along the way, the College will provide you with an array of skill-building resources, professional development activities and real-life strategies for success.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fearless Scholars Program awards are disbursed at the end of your studies (upon graduation). The Fearless Scholars Program is a cohort program, where you participate in various skill-building resources and professional development activities. The award is in recognition of your participation in the Program, and is meant to help you as you launch the next phase of your life—whether that be interviewing for jobs, moving towards grad school, etc.

Congratulations on graduating early! While this program is geared towards students completing their degree in four years, we understand that some students finish up their coursework early. We will round up the number of years of the program you have completed.

For example, if you have participated in the program for 3.5 years (seven semesters), you will receive $5,000 upon graduation. If you have participated in the program for 2.5 years (five semesters), you will receive the first three years of the award, or $3,000, upon graduation.

You are also welcome (but not required) to come back and participate in the remaining activities with your cohort. Any activity invitations will be sent to your UofA email, so please make sure to continue checking that account or set up automatic forwarding.

We are sad to see you go!

You must be a College of Humanities major to participate in the Fearless Scholars program. This means that once you drop your major you will no longer be able to participate in cohort-specific events. Upon graduation, you will still receive an award reflective of the number of full years you participated in the Fearless Scholars program. For example, if you change majors in your second year, you will still receive $500 upon graduation for your first year’s participation in the program.

Yes, as long as you are still pursuing a College of Humanities major, you will remain eligible for the program, regardless of any other majors and minors you may add.

Please talk to your COH advisor and let them know you will be taking a semester off and wish to discuss continuing the Fearless Scholars program when you return. We will work with you on a case by case basis.
