The professors will select a topic to discuss and play related songs, illuminating subjects related to music, culture, history and their own research.

A panel of Black women innovators will discuss making an impact in Tucson, changing the world for everyone and thriving with joy. Panelists include Beverely Elliott, Executive Director of the African American Museum of Southern Arizona; Cheree Meeks, President of NAACP Tucson and W.A Franke Honors College Assistant Dean of Programs, Diversity and Inclusion; Laura Pendleton-Miller, Board President of Blue Lotus Artists’ Collective (BLAC); and Taranika Sanders, Principal of Utterback Middle School.

Music industry veteran Benny Pough has left an indelible mark on the music industry as an executive, helping shape the sound and culture of music worldwide. With executive roles at labels Motown Def Jam, Epic Records and MCA Records, culminating in his role as President of Roc Nation, he helped to propel the careers of superstars like Jay-Z and Rihanna. Pough will reflect on and discuss experiences from his three decades in music, as well as his memoir On Impact: Life, Leadership and Betting on Yourself.
