Digitizing the Architecture of Imperial Rome

Monday, March 10, 2014 - 11:00am
Kiva Auditorium in the Education Building 1430 E. 2nd Street Tucson, AZ 85721

James Packer, Professor Emeritus of Classics at Northwestern University, will present on his new book on the Roman Forum in Imperial times, viewed now through the latest digitilization process. Visualizing the architecture of imperial Rome has not been easy. Old photographs of the ruins give no real idea of the original buildings. New digital models of ancient Rome's most famous sites provide the start of a new 21st century approach to the study of antiquity.
