In an annual partnership with KXCI Community Radio, professors from the Africana Studies Program took to the airwaves to celebrate Black History Month.
Professors selected a topic and related songs to play as weekly guest DJs on the Home Stretch program, illuminating subjects related to music, culture, history and their own research.
On Feb. 6, Ntare Gault, adjunt instructor of Africana Studies, discussed Black Masculinity in Cinema.
On Feb. 13, Praise Zenenga, Director of the Africana Studies program, presented on the theme of Motherhood in Black Music.
On Feb. 20, Jerome Dotson, Assistant Professor of Africana Studies, spoke about the intersection of soul food and soul music.
On Feb. 27, Bryan Carter, Director of the Center for Digitial Humanities and an Associate Professor of Africana Studies, presented a segment on Afrofuturism.
