Alan Heathcock’s VOLT, a collection of stories published by Graywolf Press, was a “Best Book 2011” selection by many newspapers and magazines including GQ, Publishers Weekly, Salon, the Chicago Tribune, and Cleveland Plain Dealer. It was named as a New York Times Editors’ Choice and was a finalist for the Barnes & Noble Discover Prize. Heathcock has won the GLCA New Writers Award, a National Magazine Award, a Whiting Award, and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, and the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference. Currently a Literature Fellow for the state of Idaho, he teaches fiction writing at Boise State University.
