Postmodern medicine, psychiatry, and psychology are beginning to realize how much alternative approaches to human health, based on spirituality and religion, can be of great use. Premodern cultures were still deeply in harmony with spiritual healing and heavily resorted to religious rituals in order to build bridges to physical conditions in human life. Our eleventh symposium 2013 on Medieval and Early Modern Studies unites scholars from all over the world, North America, and The University of Arizona, addressing a variety of aspects pertaining to mental health, spirituality, and religion, implicitly and explicitly also dealing with medicine in its cultural context. Two workshops and a final lecture on religion today will round off the symposium.
The public is invited to join, but there is a registration fee for active participants.
