Tucson Celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

THIS IS A FREE COMMUNITY CELEBRATION, OPEN TO ALL
Produced by UA Presents and the College of Fine Arts, sponsored by College of Humanities Africana Studies, College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Dr. Mary Jo Ghory.

Beyond Tucson: A Time to Break Silence. Adapted from the title of his famous speech of April 4th, 1967, in which Dr. King officially spoke out against the Vietnam war, the words ring just as true today fifty years after they were first spoken.

This free and open community event is a grassroots effort by dozens of individuals from a plethora of Tucson arts organizations. This multiplicity of voices joins in concord to honor and respect the vision and integrity of Dr. King through dance, music, poetry and song. Among the community collaborators are Artifact Dance Project, Words on the Avenue, UA Dance, the UA School of Theatre, Film, and Television, and the Fred Fox School of Music.
