First Meeting of "Craft of Poetry"

When
11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sept. 18, 2013

Eight Wednesdays, September 18 through November 6, 6:15 to 8:00 p.m.

Tuition: $225 + $5 course material fee = $230 total

In this eight-week poetry workshop, we’ll explore basic elements of poetic craft. Each course meeting will focus on a single craft element; we will discuss line, voice, music, tone, image, and metaphor, among other topics. Course meetings will also offer opportunities to read and discuss the work of published poets, to engage in in-class writing activities, and, at the end of the course, to workshop our poems. This course will be highly discussion oriented. All the required work of the course can be completed in class (no homework). Participants can expect to complete the course with increased knowledge of basic poetic craft and increased familiarity with contemporary poetry. This workshop is appropriate for beginners, but also for experienced writers who wish to revisit their study of the fundamentals of poetry.
