Need a break from winter? Got the post-partum holiday blues? Need your own space? Enroll in this weekend poetry writing workshop and enter the rooms of your own invention. For three hours on Saturday morning and three hours on Sunday
afternoon, you will be given model poems and writing prompts from which to create new poems. You will have the opportunity to read and share your work with people in the workshop. We will cover several types of poems: from ecopoetry,
to poems using the syntax of or about music, to political poems, to lyric poems, to narrative poetry. This workshop is designed as a poetry olio, a fusion buffet of verse at its best. This is also designed to break through writer’s block. Models will include poetry by Patricia Smith, Sean Thomas Dougherty, Gary Snyder, W.S. Merwin, Joy Harjo, Billy Collins, Linda Hogan, Richard Jackson, Lucille Clifton, T.R. Hummer, Dan Vera, and many more.
