Night of Fairy Tales: A Very Grimm Reading

When
11 a.m., Feb. 28, 2013

Celebrate the 200th anniversary of Brothers Grimm fairy tales with a multi-lingual reading of their famous collection of stories. This event features readings from Little Red Riding Hood and other tales in German, Spanish, Chinese, Italian, French, and other languages. The stories gathered in the first edition of Children’s and Household Tales were often much darker than those that were popularized. Did your childhood “Little Red Riding Hood” feature a striptease? A dirty name-calling cat? The blood of granny trapped in a bottle? Together, under the influence of wonder, we will welcome a new century for fairy tales. Listeners need not be fluent in any of the languages — visuals will accompany the readings, and the sound of fairy tales will cast its very own spell.
