Poetry in Letterpress

When
2 to 10 a.m., June 22, 2013

The Poetry Center is excited to offer this letterpress workshop in partnership with the School of Art. Over one weekend, students will learn the basics of letterpress printing through the process of handsetting and printing a short excerpt from an original poem on Vandercook Proof presses. Copies of the printed works will then be exchanged and bound using perfect binding. Students should come to the first workshop meeting with an excerpt of their own writing, of a maximum of 30 words. (You could also take this as an invitation/challenge to write a 30-word poem.) No prior printing experience is needed. The workshop will be held at the School of Arts Letterpress Lab and Book Arts Facility. There will be a one-hour lunch break each day; please bring a lunch with you. Registration is limited to 10 students only.
