In the wake of Arizona’s 2010 SB 1070, the UA Press anthology Poetry of Resistance: Voices of Social Justice brought together more than 80 writers in a powerful call for tolerance, reflection, reconciliation, healing and a plea for social change. The poets address a variety of themes, including racial profiling, xenophobia, cultural misunderstanding, violence against refugees, shared identity and much more. Mari Herreras will moderate a conversation between Rodríguez and Espada that explores the timely and forceful poetic response in support of basic human rights. The conversation will be followed by a poetry reading by both Rodríguez and Espada. Presented by the UA Poetry Center with additional support from PEN America.
