Each year the College of Humanities is pleased to offer scholarships to students enrolled in disciplines across the College. These scholarships have been made possible by the generosity of alumni and donors who have demonstrated a long-standing interest in education and the Humanities.
Applications open in mid-December. Apply by February 16, 2026 to be considered for College of Humanities Scholarships.
How to Apply

1. Prepare
- Read the COH Scholarships Preparation Guide (link coming soon);
- Decide which applications you are submitting;
- Write all personal statements you plan to submit, based on the prompts in the Preparation Guide;
- Contact a faculty member to ask if they would be willing to fill out a recommendation (the questions in the recommendation survey can be found in the Preparation Guide).

2. Apply
- Applications will open in mid-December.
- Submit your application on Scholarship Universe using the links below:

More Information
- Mid-December: COH General Scholarships and Fearless Inquiries Abroad applications open.
- Late February: Applications due (see top of this page for current deadline).
- Early April: Award and rejection letters sent to all students who applied.
- Letters will be sent to your official U of A email.
- Certain scholarships require awardees to submit a thank you note before the award is processed. Instructions on how to do so will be included in the award letter.
- May: Summer scholarships* disbursed to student accounts.
- August: Fall scholarships* disbursed to student accounts.
*Disbursal months are noted in award letters.

- Ask a faculty member, advisor, or other mentor if they would be willing to give you feedback on your short essays.

- The Humanities Fearless Scholars participate in a cohort program, and are provided with an array of skill-building resources, professional development activities and real-life strategies for success. Humanities Fearless Scholars also receive an award of up to $5000 upon completion of the program. See the Fearless Scholars webpage for more information on the application process and deadlines.
- Ask your faculty members and advisors if they know of any programs you should apply for.
- COH Departments and Centers: Check the websites of all Departments you are associated with (majors, minors, clubs you are involved in) and find their "Scholarships" page (often found under the Undergraduate menu).
- Other Colleges: Check out the "Scholarships" pages on websites of other Colleges you are associated with (double majors, dual degrees, minors, etc.).
- Scholarship Universe: Spend some time filling out Matching Questions and exploring scholarships on Scholarship Universe.
- National Scholarships: Explore the Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships resources and scholarship list.
