“We give to the humanities because we want to make the world a better place. This scholarship is giving students the opportunity to expand their minds, meet a lot of people who have different ideas and come from different backgrounds.”
The Dana and Jeffrey Vandersip Endowed Humanities Award annually supports College of Humanities students with scholarship funding to cover tuition and fees, study abroad, or other educational expenses. Created by 2019 College of Humanities Alumna of the Year Dana Vandersip (Russian, ’88) and her husband, the scholarship is open to students from any major within the college.
The annual College of Humanities Faculty Salon provides a showcase for our world-class faculty to present brief descriptions of their innovations in research and teaching. This Salon, presented as part of the 2024 Tucson Humanities Festival, features our exciting work happening in collaboration with University of Arizona Health Sciences upon the launch of the Health Humanities Hub (H3), located in the landmark Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine building. Following introductory presentations by H3 Coordinator Christine Hoekenga and AWCIM Director Stephen Dahmer, College of Humanities professors Rae Dachille, Janice McGregor, and Albert Welter offer insights into their dynamic teaching and research in the field of Health Humanities.
