COH Grant Proposal Review Process
Contact Early
- PI contacts business manager, Ken McAllister and Minda Dettman
- Send sponsor grant link
- COH team reviews complexity and provides timeline
Attention:
Grants due in less than two weeks will not be processed. Some complex grants may need to wait til the next cycle.
Build Budget
- PI sends rough project plan to business manager
- Business manager drafts budget
- PI reviews and requests revisions
- Repeat until budget is finalized.
Prepare Documents
- If time allows, COH Sponsored Projects provides checklist and 'skeleton doc'.
- PI works on documents while budget is finalized.
- Leave time for COH review and feedback.
Submit

General Timeline
3+ months before deadline
Grant opportunity is identified and everyone is notified of intent to submit.
2+ months before deadline
PI ensures they have access to submission portals. Initial budget ideas sent to business manager.
1 - 2 months before deadline
Drafts of all narrative documents sent to Ken and Minda for review/feedback. (Review takes a minimum of 1 week.)
2 weeks before deadline
Budget finalized, near final draft and all documents required for routing to the central sponsored projects office, due to COH.
1 week before deadline
Changes required by central sponsored projects office made, electronic proposal submitted.
